Awesome post, Carl. I'm interested to see what Part 3 brings.

I've definitely been in a choreography state of mind, both thinking about future ones I would like to be part of, and putting together choreography for myself.
I find that I am very much a visual and kinesthetic learner, with an emphasis on the kinesthetic part when dancing; but I'm also a very musical or auditorily-oriented dancer, so sometimes those things are at odds.
Generally, I like to choreograph in chunks and write down (in my own words) what I'm doing for which part of the song, with little cues ("leg sweep on the schwoooooooooooop horn") to help me remember what it is I want to do, when. This works best for me when I write it down within a certain framework, such as the phrasing of the song, done in 8's.

Once I have set movements, the best thing for me to learn choreography well is just to do it over and over and over, until it's automatic in my muscles. Because I'm a perfectionist, I also like to tape myself during occasional run-throughs, and make corrections to movements one at a time that I'm not happy with. I've found that I'm not very good at watching myself in a mirror, because I get too easily distracted, but mirrors are great for helping me fix static positions and hit lines that I want.

All that, and Google Docs, are the key to my choreographing!
