In New Orleans?  I teach a local series.

Private Lessons

One-on-one personal training to help pinpoint problems and areas for development in your dancing.  Private sessions are tailored specifically to you.  I focus on solid technique based on natural body movement and functionality.  If you want to re-examine the very heart of your dancing this is for you.

Group Classes

Offered to your general community in either a once-off or series format.  Based on the roots of the dance and tailored to the needs of your community these lessons are excellent for building your scenes collective skill level.  Topics can range from lindy hop fundamentals, musicality, fast dancing, solo jazz and many other options.

Master Classes

Pushing even the most advanced dancers out of their comfort zones.  If you want to challenge assumptions and concepts and delve into theory of dance, this type of class is for you.  Usually offered in a two or three hour intensive format.

Community Classes

If you are a school, community program or other non-profit organization and want to help bring dance and movement to the world, these are the classes for you.  Your passion to spread movement is my passion as well.  Please help me spread dance to your community.

Workshops

A two day intensive usually held over a weekend.  Classes build on each other throughout the two days focusing broadly across lindy hop and vernacular jazz dances.  This is a great way to bring your community together through an immersive learning experience.  It is also a great way to introduce new concepts and styles to your scene alongside the basics they are already comfortable with.

Why You Should Work With Me

I have been teaching lindy hop, vernacular jazz, charleston and other swing dances since 2003 – however that’s relatively normal.  In any niche community you’ll find individuals who have been thrust into the role of teacher, however rarely do you find a dancer who has taken it upon themselves to improve their teaching skills, to constantly learn as a dancer and a teacher.

Great dancers do not always equal great teachers.  To that effect I have worked with education professionals, studied learning theories, and constantly worked to improve my teaching skills alongside my dancing technique.

My experiences as a teacher have taught me more about the dance than my own dance training.  Everyone is their own learner and must be motivated intrinsically to understand the material and it my job as a teacher to guide them towards that motivation.  I work as a guide, a coach, a mentor and a role model to help you to get the most out of each lesson or class.

I have taught in schools, on the street, at corporate events, at national dance weekends, and as a regular weekly staff member at dance studios.  I have worked with children and the elderly, high schoolers, college students and dance professionals.  All of them require an understanding approach with a willingness to share the learning experience together.

My job as a teacher is to plant the seed of curiousity so that you seek to question and find the answers.
